According to a report from Foot Mercato, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken to Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot about a potential move in January.
The French midfielder, who only moved to Juventus in the summer, has struggled to get regular game time. Rabiot has started just seven times in all competitions this season. A move to Arsenal could potentially increase his chances of getting regular game time which in turn could get him on the flight to the Euros with France.
A meeting has already taken place between Rabiot’s representatives and his interested parties – Arsenal and Everton. However, Juventus are adamant that they do not want him to leave in January.
Arsenal could do with someone like Rabiot especially if Granit Xhaka is allowed to leave. The Swiss international has been rumoured to have agreed terms with Hertha Berlin and a move is likely. (Blick)
Despite being only 24 years old, Rabiot has a lot of experience. The Frenchman has won the Ligue 1 on six different occasions during his time with PSG and his addition could bring a winning mentality to this current Arsenal side.
However, it will be difficult to convince Juventus to let go of their summer signing. The Italian champions are keen to offload Emre Can and losing two midfielders in the same window won’t look good. Arsenal will have to do well to land Rabiot but if we do, it will be a phenomenal signing.
