According to a report from Turkish-Football, Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi has been offered to Galatasaray.

The German defender has barely featured since the start of this campaign after a disastrous one last season. Mustafi is highly likely to leave the club in this window but could his next destination be Turkey?

The report claims that the Turkish champions are keen to strengthen their defence this month. No direct contact has been made between the player and Galatasaray yet but there is a chance that a deal could be struck.

Arsenal forked out £35 million (BBC) for the German World Cup winner back in the summer of 2016. Mustafi started off incredibly well being a part of a long unbeaten streak in his very first season.

However, things have slowly gone downhill since then with the 27-year-old’s errors costing the team on multiple occasions. Arsenal will struggle to recoup the massive fee that they invested in him three-and-a-half years ago but it could be best for all parties if he is allowed to leave.

The report claims that Galatasaray can only sign him on a loan deal in January. Financial Fairplay rules have made life difficult for the Turks and that alone could hurt Arsenal’s and Mustafi’s chances of a move.

The German is still a very good defender and a move to a less intense league could well help him return to his very best.
