Arsenal have managed to secure arguably their biggest signing yet this summer. The Gunners have tied down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new three-year-contract and the positivity around the club has gone up considerably as a result.
Auba is, without a doubt, our best player. Without him, we would have finished in the bottom half of the table last season which would have made this summer a terrible one. Thankfully though, he did what he does best and helped us win the FA Cup and the Community Shield, and signed a new deal to stay with us.
Auba could have left us for a Champions League club
Everything could have been a lot different. There aren’t many players like Aubameyang in the world. The Gabon international guarantees goals irrespective of who he plays for and it wouldn’t surprise people to know that he could easily have left us for a bigger club.
Sky Sports claim today that Auba had offers from two Champions League clubs this summer. The former Dortmund man was linked with a whole host of teams before he signed a new deal at the Emirates but if the report is to be believed, only two teams had put their money where their mouth was.
Spanish giants Barcelona reportedly offered Auba a contract to leave Arsenal for the Camp Nou this summer. Serie A runners-up Inter Milan also pushed to lure our skipper away from the Emirates, but he rejected them both to extend his stay at the club.
If Auba continues to perform as well as he has done since joining us, he will go down as an Arsenal legend. Arteta clearly has played a big role in convincing him and if he continues to improve us, we will be fighting for the biggest honours very soon.
