According to a report from German outlet BILD, Arsenal have had a massive £55m bid rejected by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for their young French defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Gunners’ need for a new centre-half has been overly evident since the start of last season. However, a move for a player of Upamecano’s reputation has come in as a pleasant surprise.

Despite still being 20, the Frenchman has already played 75 times for Leipzig since signing for them in 2017. Upamecano is one of the best young defenders in the world and is clearly a huge part of Nagelsmann’s squad.

With just a little over two days left in the window, Arsenal will have to do well to convince Leipzig. If we manage to do so, Emery will have one of the brightest prospects in world football at his disposal.

Gunners set to lose three players:

BBC have reported that skipper Laurent Koscielny is close to completing a move to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux for £4.6m. If a move does go through, Koscielny will leave us after nine years and 353 games in all competitions.

Another long-serving Arsenal player in Carl Jenkinson is also close to leaving the club according to the same BBC report with Championship side Nottingham Forest in advanced talks with the Gunners. Jenkinson managed just 70 senior appearances for the Gunners in his eight-year stay and a move away would suit all parties involved.

BBC have also reported that Bristol City are among a number of English and Championship clubs interested in young striker Eddie Nketiah who could be allowed to leave on loan in the next few days. The 20-year-old will massively improve with regular game time and the likelihood of that happening at the Emirates is slim with Pierre-Emerick Aubamyenag and Alexandre Lacazette well ahead of him in the pecking order.
