Arsenal’s official website confirmed the team news ahead of the game against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The two-week break and the warm weather camp in Dubai seem to have helped a number of injured players back to full fitness. Before the break, Arsenal were without a left-back with Kieran Tierney, Sead Kolasinac and makeshift full-back Bukayo Saka all struggling.
Thankfully for Mikel Arteta, Saka and Kolasinac will available for selection on Sunday. That is a big boost for us to have the Bosnian back despite the fact that Saka played brilliantly in the last few games.
Further up the pitch, Reiss Nelson is also fit and ready to return. The youngster was preferred ahead of Nicolas Pepe by Arteta early on and it will be interesting to see if that will be the case again.
New signing Pablo Mari is also available for selection after a good week’s training with the squad. Arteta stressed on the importance of having a left-footed defender for better balance to the squad.
Mari has a huge opportunity to show his skills and if he impresses, he will be signed permanently in the summer.
Everyone but Chambers will be available from March
That leaves just Cedric, Tierney and Chambers on the sidelines with the former two set to return by the end of this month.
Arteta will want everyone available to give us the big push at the end of the season. The top-four is 10 points away at the moment while the Europa League is still in our hands.
A good run from now till May will get us back in the Champions League next season. That alone will give us a huge boost to get our top targets in the summer which in turn could determine the fate of Arteta’s first full season in charge.
