Arsenal blew a two-goal lead against Real Madrid in their final pre-season game in the International Champions Cup. However, Unai Emery has a lot of positives to take from the game on Tuesday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette put the Gunners 2-0 up at the break before two quick goals from Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio brought them level. The Galacticos clinched the tournament on penalties but here are three things that Unai Emery should have learnt from the game.

Auba and Laca should start every game:

Unai Emery’s star strikers came up with the goods once again as the duo linked up brilliantly for the Gabonese’s goal in the first half. Lacazette and Aubameyang’s chemistry has been evident since last season and Emery should make it a point to start the duo together in every game next season.

Joe Willock is our new Aaron Ramsey:

News about Dani Ceballos replacing Aaron Ramsey this summer has been all over the press but young Joe Willock has consistently proven that he is up for a fight next season. The youngster showed immense maturity against Real Madrid with his passes and positioning and Emery should prioritize his development by giving him more game time next season.

Emi Martinez should stay as our number two.

A lot of eyebrows were raised when the teamsheets were released and Emiliano Martinez started in goal ahead of Bernd Leno but the Argentine had a very good game between the sticks. Martinez has spent far too much time on loan over the years but Emery should give him the chance he deserves to be Leno’s understudy next season.
