There seems to ba rare bit of positivity around Arsenal despite not winning either of their last two games. Mikel Arteta would’ve loved a win under his belt by now but he will have to wait a bit longer.

A hugely impressive performance at Chelsea ended with a heartbreaking defeat in the final seven minutes of normal time. Arsenal fans’ dreams of Arteta emulating Pep Guardiola hasn’t quite worked out….or has it?

Guardiola is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in the history of the game. The Spaniard has won it all and was in charge of arguably the greatest team ever assembled at Barcelona about a decade ago.

Guardiola was given the Barcelona job just after a year of being in charge of the B team. Due to his inexperience, not much was expected of him and the first two games further lowered those expectations.

Barcelona managed just one point in their first two games under Pep very much like Arteta now at Arsenal. However, the Catalans bounced back incredibly well and finished the season as champions, 9 points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.

Arteta will not go onto win the league this season. However, seeing Guardiola become the manager that he is today despite failing to win his first two league games, it should be a huge inspiration for the Arsenal boss to go on and emulate him.
