There are a lot of things you can say about Mesut Ozil but if there is one thing that cannot be questioned, it is his commitment to the club. The German joined us from Real Madrid in a period where we needed him more than he needed us.

Arsenal’s trophy drought ended at the end of his first season and we have gone on to win four FA Cups and as many Community Shields since. The German’s work rate, attitude and his humongous salary are regular talking points, but not many can deny that he has still been an exceptional player for us.

Ozil has made it clear that he will not leave the club until his contract ends next summer. The former Real Madrid man is available for selection for the trip to Fulham this weekend and it is up to Mikel Arteta if he wants to use him on Saturday.

Ozil held a Q&A session on his Twitter on Wednesday ahead of the start of the new season. The German received a number of questions, one of which was if he would ever join the other club from North London. It is safe to say, Arsenal fans will love his response.

As Arsene Wenger once famously said: “Last time I checked they were still 4 miles and 11 titles away.” That hasn’t changed yet and irrespective how Tottenham fans and Jose Mourinho will try to spin it, Arsenal are a long way ahead of Tottenham as a club.

Spurs have got the better of us in terms league finishes over the last few years. However, Arsenal have continued to add silverware, something that Tottenham haven’t done for over a decade now.

Mourinho will certainly make Tottenham better this season. Spurs will be eyeing a top-four finish just like us, but if we continue to improve under Arteta, we will likely get ahead of them in the Premier League by the end of the upcoming campaign.
