Olympiacos boss Pedro Martins spoke to Goal about the difference between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Greek champions have faced both North London clubs this season and Martins could be a fair judge. Olympiacos picked up a draw against Spurs at home before losing 4-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Arsenal picked up an impressive victory at a difficult place in the first-leg but the tie is far from decided ahead of tonight’s game.
Speaking about the differences between the two sides, Martins said: “What I saw was one team like Tottenham, with experience, with great players and I saw one team like Arsenal, with young players who were not of the same maturity.”
“Arsenal is building a new team and Tottenham is the same team that it was three or four years ago. This is a huge difference. It’s not about the quality, it’s about maturity, experience.”
It is true that Arsenal’s average age this season is much younger than their North London rivals. The Gunners have used at least one under-21 player in almost all the games this season and the youngsters’ performances have been impressive.
With age and experience, the players will certainly get a lot better. However, the maturity levels on the pitch with most of our young players have seemed to be well beyond their age, which is something that everybody at the club should be really proud of.
The likes of Bukayo Saka, Matteo Guendouzi and Gabriel Martinelli are all expected to feature tonight. The trio are more than capable of causing a ton of problems for Olympiacos and their performances alone could knock the Greeks out of the competition.
