We all remember when Robin van Persie blamed ‘the little boy inside him’ for leaving Arsenal, don’t we?

From claiming to be Arsenal’s biggest fan to leaving us when we needed him the most, that statement wasn’t going to earn him any fans. He left us, won the league and then got shipped off to Fenerbahce instead of staying with us to potentially go down as a club legend.

Van Persie is a pundit now and to be fair to him, he is doing a very good job. However, ‘the little boy inside him’ is still ridiculed by fans and he has found the need to explain himself.

Speaking on Sky Italia’s “The Lords of Football” segment as quoted by the Daily Star, he said: “Yes, maybe I should have chosen different words. I didn’t want to upset anyone. I was just trying to explain why I made that decision to win and to accept this challenge.”

It does feel like our former skipper is trying to get on the good side of Arsenal fans since retiring. He made the shocking comment recently about Arsene Wenger not offering him a new contract which simply cannot be true. (BT Sport as quoted by The Sun)

No matter how much he tries to spin his story, he did what he did and it is unlikely that Arsenal fans will treat him like they did before he left us for Manchester United.
