The Daily Mail have given an insight into Mikel Arteta’s plans for the summer transfer window. The report claims that the overhaul at the end of the season could be among the most drastic in the history of the club.
Mikel Arteta is on the lookout for a box-to-box midfielder in the summer. Arsenal are yet to replace Aaron Ramsey who left us for Juventus at the end of last season.
Dani Ceballos hasn’t quite hit the level that we thought he would while Mesut Ozil will enter the final year of his contract in the summer. A new midfielder is a necessity in the summer but who should Arteta go for?
Here are all the midfielders linked with a move to Arsenal:
The Lille midfield powerhouse is of interest to numerous clubs in Europe. The likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United join Arsenal in pursuit of his signature and he would be a brilliant addition.
Soumare has been tipped to be the next Paul Pogba. His style of play and physical attributes are very similar to the former Juventus star but he still has a long way to go before he hits his peak.
Arguably the most exciting player on the list, Aouar is one of the best young midfielders out there. Despite only being 21, the Frenchman has played over 100 times for Lyon and is one of the first names on the team sheet for them.
Aouar has 13 direct goal contributions already this season. Him, alongside the likes of Guendouzi and Soumare, is the future of French football and he could well the future of Arsenal too.
Let’s be honest, this is never going to happen. All the big boys in the Premier League are in for him but if reports are to be believed, he is close to agreeing a new deal with Leicester City.
The Foxes are 18 points above us and are almost guaranteed to make it into the Champions League next season. Swapping Leicester for Arsenal is highly unlikely considering the state of things but stranger things have happened.
Remember how we laughed at Manchester United for letting a player leave on free and signing him back for a huge fee? The roles might well reverse if this deal goes through.
Kamara was allowed to leave Arsenal five years ago and has blossomed brilliantly at Rangers. He has been hugely impressive under Steven Gerrard since the start of last season and he would be a smart addition for us in the summer.
Arsenal have already pulled off a couple of deals from the Brazilian market thanks to Edu’s influence. Gabriel Martinelli has become a star while we will see Pablo Mari in action shortly.
Pedrinho could well be the next gem to leave Brazil for North London and he is an exciting prospect. The youngster can play as a number 10 as well as on the right-wing. His arrival will force Nicolas Pepe to fight for his place harder which is always a good thing for a manager.
