According to a report from Goal, Barcelona have made it a priority to sign Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on loan until the end of the season.
The Catalan giants are set to be without Luis Suarez for the foreseeable future which has pushed them to sign a striker this month. However, there is no way Arsenal will let their star man leave this month.
Aubameyang is Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 16 goals in all competitions. Arsenal would arguably be rotting in the bottom three if it wasn’t for his goals and Barcelona have certainly identified a top player.
However, it would be foolish on Arsenal’s part to even consider this. The Gabonese has just 18 months left on his current deal at the club. If Aubameyang decides not to extend his contract, he will most likely be sold.
Loaning him out will only bring his value down which is bad news for us if we were to sell him in the summer. Arsenal are no strangers to that situation having lost a number of players for peanuts in the past.
Aaron Ramsey left for free, Manchester United signed Robin van Persie for a bargain fee just like they did with Alexis Sanchez. Aubameyang will still get us a brilliant amount of money if he is sold in the summer.
Sell Auba in the summer?
Proven goal scorers are hard to get in today’s market. Auba is one of the most reliable strikers in world football and any club would be lucky to have him.
Arsenal should try their best to tie him down to a new deal. However, if he decides against it, he should be sold in the summer for a good fee rather than allow him to leave for free in 18 months time.
